Lunchtime Walk Photos (8/17/2026)

It was a halfway decent day today, sunny without being super warm or humid, so my walk was a bit more pleasant than it has been. Plus, I had some company today. My wife was in her sewing studio (in the basement of the same building my office is in) so she joined me.

Since she was wearing sandals, I avoided some of the trails I normally would check out. However, I still managed to get a few photos. Here are some of them:


This wasn't the most cooperative butterfly, but I did manage to snap this photo when it took a short break from flying around.


I almost didn't spot this blue heron from a distance against the backdrop but spotted it just in time to get a photo while it was hunting.


This is the rock I normally see turtles on. They weren't there today, for obvious reasons.

I haven't seen a lot of frogs this year but today, we had to avoid stepping on a couple of them. I grabbed this shot when one was hiding.

Kwik Trip Kitchen Cravings Tailgater Pizza

  When my wife and I decided on pizza for dinner last night, I stopped at Kwik Trip with the intention of just buying a cheap, frozen, cheese pizza for our daughters since we already had another pizza in our freezer. However, as I was walking up to the checkout counter, this particular pizza caught my eye and, even though I wasn't crazy about spending $8.99 when I already had another option at home, I was intrigued enough to make the purchase anyway. We ended up making the pizza in the oven when I got home. After trying it, I have to say it is one of my favorites. One of the things, in particular, that really stood out for me when it came to this pizza was the toppings. The combination of sausage and cheese curds was both unique and delicious, especially since the curds were fresh enough to still squeak when we were eating them. Five Unanswered Questions from Gilligan's Island

As someone who loves classic movies and classic television, it shouldn't be a surprise to learn I've seen every episode of Gilligan's Island at least a couple dozen times and the made-for-TV movies based on the series at least a half dozen. While I will stop short of saying I can recite the episodes word-from-word, I can recall most details from those episodes without seeing them. Anyone who knows the show also knows it was cancelled after just three seasons and less than 100 episodes, forcing it to rely on the movies, which were made more than a decade later, to bring closure. That may or may not be the reason the series/movies left quite a few unanswered questions. Here are five that have always nagged at me: Was Ginger ( Tina Louise ) psychic?
