Ice Show Weekend

Image
It's going to be a full Easter weekend this year because we will also be having our annual ice show at the local skating rink. This is a relatively big deal because, thanks to COVID, we had to cancel last year's show and, up until about November, we weren't sure if this would happen. Even now, we did have to make some changes to the show to allow for proper social distancing. We normally have about 400-500 people in attendance at each of the shows. This year, we are limiting that number to 200. We are, however, livestreaming the final performance, April 3 at 4 p.m. CST. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased here:  2021`Swan City Ice Skaters' Annual Ice Show-Animation Station Tickets | Eventbrite

Taking a Moment to Advertise My Daughter's Upcoming Ice Show

If you happen to be around the Beaver Dam, WI area this upcoming weekend (April 20-22), Rapunzel's Story is a must-see event. Our area skaters (including my daughter), coaches and parent volunteers (including me) work very hard to put on a great show every year and this will not be an exception. The show will feature music from Justin Timberlake, Meghan Trainor, Garth Brooks, Michael Buble and various other artists and at $8 per ticket ($7 for seniors and $5 for students), is well worth the money. Show times are at 7 p.m. on Friday, 1:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. on Saturday and 1:30 p.m. on Sunday. If you have kids, they can skate with the show's characters after the Saturday afternoon performance for no additional charge (skates will be provided). The show is at the Beaver Dam Family Center, 609 Gould St.

It's Getting to Be That Time of Year

Next week is the start of ice show rehearsals, which basically means my daughter and I can plan on pretty much living at the ice rink for the next month or so. We're pretty much veterans of this now so it shouldn't be too terrible. The hardest part will be making sure she stays on top of her homework, especially on Mondays, when she needs to be there not long after school is over until just before she would normally be going to bed. I guess I should get some books to read since I'm going to be there too. The ice show, if anyone is interested, is Rapunzel's Story and there will be four shows April 20-22. http://www.swancityiceskaters.org/page/show/1287589-swan-city-ice-show
