Five Changes I Would Make to Project Runway

Image
Project Runway is more my wife's thing than mine. However, I've been watching it with her (or at least been in the same room) for quite a few years and consider myself invested in the reality TV series. So, I feel qualified to say the show isn't anywhere near as good as it was when it first aired 22 years ago. Here are five changes I would make to try to restore it to part of its former glory: First, bring back Tim Gunn. It's not that I don't like Christian Siriano. I just think Gunn was a considerably better mentor. His critiques and suggestions just seemed more sincere, and the show hasn't been the same since he left. Siriano can still remain as a judge or co-mentor. More sewing, less drama. Look, I get it, it's reality TV and contestant drama is part of the deal, which is also probably the only reason for team challenges. However, there are times when it feels as though the contestants are cast more for that than actual skill and that hurts the show'...

Thoughts From The Sinner, Season 2, Part 1 (8/1/2018)

Image
Synopsis: A few months after helping Cora Tannetti (Jessica Biel), Harry Ambrose (Bill Pullman) is called back to his former hometown to investigate the murder of a man and woman that was apparently carried out by a 13-year-old boy named Julian (Elisha Henig) My Thoughts: 1. When I first heard there was going to be another season of this show, I was curious how they planned to carry it out. My first thought was they were going to essentially reboot it, with the same actors playing different roles (similar to American Horror Story). I was pleased to discover it is, in fact, a sequel to the first season with the same detective but, at the same time, is still its own story all together. 2. I must admit, while I figured Julian would kill the people he was traveling with (which may or may not be his parents), I really wasn't expecting his method. I figured he would wind up stabbing them or something. The poison angle took me by surprise. 3. I kind of wish the show would hav...

Decided to Watch Orange is the New Black

Image
My wife and I are in between shows at the moment and, because of that, decided to give Orange is the New Black a try. Granted, this show has been on Netflix for a while now and isn't exactly a hidden gem. But, based on our normal viewing habits, we weren't really sure if it would be for us and weren't expecting to make it past the first episode. As it turns out, however, it is actually as good as people say it is. The show is definitely geared more toward women. But, even as a guy, I have found there are quite a few things I do enjoy about it (none of which involves the occasional nudity or lesbian sex). In particular, one thing I found I really like from season 1 is the relationship between the incarcerated Piper ( Taylor Schilling ) and her fiancƩ ( Jason Biggs ). It's an intriguing story (please don't ruin it with spoilers) because they both have made some pretty big mistakes and I'm curious if their relationship will make it. I'm not sure if it...
