However, when Scott Lang/Ant-Man returns after being trapped in the Quantum Realm, he comes back with a plan, travel back in time to retrieve the stones so they can undo what Thanos did. There's just one problem; an earlier version of Thanos has figured out the plan. Who's in it? The movie stars Robert Downey, Jr. , Paul Rudd , Scarlett Johansson , Mark Ruffalo , Chris Evans and Chris Hemsworth . Review: My wife and I binge watched the various Avenger movies a few years ago but stopped one short and never took the time to watch Avengers: Endgame , mostly because we couldn't find time to slip a 3-hour-long film into our schedule. We finally decided to do that yesterday evening and weren't disappointed. With very few exceptions, movies that are longer than 2 hours ra...

When an accountant steals money from her employers, she is assigned to retrieve it, only to learn her dying target's daughter, Emily, has been kidnapped. Electing to rescue the young girl results in Sam losing the Firm's money, putting her life in danger. While on the run with Emily in tow, Sam receives some unexpected help from the woman who abandoned her and her "aunts." Who's in it? The movie stars Karen Gillan , Lena Headey , Paul Giamatti , Angela Bassett and Joanna Bobin. Review: I came across this film on Netflix earlier today and even though their description left a lot to be desired, my wife and I have liked Karen Gillan in other films, and I figured that was enough to justify giving it a try. As it turns out, it was a surprisingly good movie. I will admit, I wasn't really sure what to expect wh...

Movie Review: Jumanji: The Next Level (2019)

Synopsis: Three years after escaping from the video game version of Jumanji, Spencer, Fridge, Bethany and Martha plan to reunite for the holidays. Spencer, feeling his life has been spiraling downhill since high school, decides to try to regain some of his confidence by repairing the game and, eventually, his friends, his grandfather and his grandfather's friend are dragged into Jumanji as well. Who's in it? The movie stars Dwayne Johnson , Kevin Hart , Karen Gillan , Jack Black , Danny Glover and Danny DeVito . Review: I almost forgot this was out on DVD until I came across it on Netflix. When I did, I was quick to add it to the top of my queue and we ended up watching the movie, as a family, this weekend. Overall, I have to say I enjoyed the film. But, as is usually the case with sequels, it did lack something when compared to the movie that preceded it. I'm going to start out by saying I loved the way the movie decided to mix things up. Not only were the fri...

Movie Review: Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle (2017)

Image
Synopsis: While serving detention, four teenagers discover a video game and decide to play it. However, the game, Jumanji, is magical and, when they are sucked inside, they must work together if they hope to survive and return home. Who's in it? The movie stars Dwayne Johnson , Jack Black , Kevin Hart , Karen Gillan and Nick Jonas. Review: It was pretty warm out yesterday and, even though I did manage to get some work done outside (and make an appearance at a graduation party), none of us had a lot of energy by yesterday afternoon. As a result of that, we wound up having a family movie night and picked this movie, which I got on DVD through Netflix. I wasn't really sure what to expect from this film when I first saw previews for it. I didn't hate the original Jumanji , but it also isn't on my list of favorite movies. And, because of that, I wasn't sure if I would enjoy this sequel. But, as it turns out, the movie was pretty good. One thing I found I l...
