Movie Review: Split (2016)

Image
Synopsis: Three teenage girls are abducted and imprisoned by a man with 23 diagnosed personalities. They need to find a way to escape before his 24th personality, which is referred to as "the Beast" finds a way to make an appearance. Who's in it? The movie stars James McAvoy , Anya Taylor-Joy , Haley Lu Richardson , Jessica Sula and Betty Buckley . Review: My wife still wants to see the movie Glass so, since my daughter had her last community theater after party yesterday evening, we took the time to watch the film that precedes it, Split , so we were up to speed on the trilogy. While there were things about this movie I thought were interesting, I honestly wasn't as big of a fan as I thought I'd be. I'll start out by saying James McAvoy is awesome as the main villain, Kevin. He didn't just play a person with multiple personalities; he brought those personalities to life and was very believable, whether he was portraying the OCD-inflicted Dennis or th...

Movie Review: The Bronze (2015)

Image
Synopsis: After an injury ended her gymnastics career early, former bronze medalist Hope Ann Greggory has been exploiting her local celebrity status while living with her dad and stealing money from the back of his mail truck. When her former coach kills herself, Hope receives a letter bequeathing her $500,000. However, to receive the money, she must train an up-and-coming local gymnast for the Olympics. Who's in it? The movie stars Melissa Rauch , Gary Cole , Haley Lu Richardson , Cecily Strong and Thomas Middleditch . Review: This movie was mentioned in a book I recently read about the television show The Big Bang Theory . I am familiar with Melissa Rauch and the trailer made it seem funny, so I checked it out from our local library earlier today. My wife and I watched it tonight and, while it wasn't as funny as I thought it would be, I didn't hate it. I think the movie might be wrongly classified as a comedy. If anything, it seemed a lot more like a drama about a for...

Movie Review: Five Feet Apart (2019)

Image
Synopsis: Two teenagers, Stella and Will, dying from cystic fibrosis meet in the hospital and fall in love. However, because of their medical conditions, they must follow strict rules, including staying six feet apart at all times, a rule they decide to defy by taking one foot back. Who's in it? The movie stars Cole Sprouse , Haley Lu Richardson , Moises Arias , Kimberly Hebert Gregory and Parminder Nagra. Review: My wife has wanted to see this movie since coming across the trailer some time ago. I finally remembered to add it to our Netflix DVD queue and we took the time to watch it this evening.  To be honest, the movie is a little predictable. Basically, if you've seen one movie about sick teenagers falling in love, you've seen most of them. However, despite that, I did find I enjoyed this film. The thing that really stood out for me when it came to this movie was the wide range of emotions Will (Sprouse), Stella (Richardson) and their friend, Poe (Arias) experience t...

Movie Review: The Last Survivors (2014)

Image
Synopsis: Ten years after the rain stops falling, Oregon has turned into a desert wasteland and a warlord terrorizes local farmers in an effort to monopolize the remaining water supply. An orphan, Kendal, attempts to keep herself and her friends alive while searching for a distributor cap that will fit the airplane she hopes to escape in. Who's in it? The movie stars Haley Lu Richardson , Booboo Stewart , Max Charles , Jon Gries and Michael Welch . Review: I came across this movie on Netflix a couple days ago and thought it looked somewhat interesting. As a result of that, my wife and I ended up watching the film over the past couple of evenings. Mostly because I had not heard of this movie before and didn't recognize any of the actors, I didn't really know what to expect from this movie. However, it turned out to be a better film than I was expecting. The film does drag a little bit in the beginning and, when my wife and I went to bed after watching the firs...
