Movie Review: A Christmas Horror Story (2015)

Image
Synopsis: As Christmas approaches and a radio station deejay plays holiday music, a group of documentary students are terrorized at a haunted boarding school, a child is replaced by a changeling, a family is stalked by Krampus and Santa is forced to hunt and kill his elves after they are turned into zombies. Who's in it?  The movie stars William Shatner , George Buza, Amy Forsyth , Michelle Nolden and Rob Archer. Review: I came across A Christmas Horror Story on Netflix several years ago and remembered enjoying it. So, when I had an opportunity to watch it again, I decided to do so. It was as good as I recalled. The movie isn't as quite as scary as I would prefer, mostly because the monsters do look a bit fake. However, even without the scares, it's still an entertaining film. One thing that intrigued me was the way the four, completely separate, stories were happening at the same time without any apparent connection other than the deejay (Shatner) playing the music. Movie Review: Hell Fest (2018)

Synopsis: On Halloween night, Natalie agrees to go to a traveling horror theme park with her best friend, Brooke and some of Brooke's other friends, partly so she can spend some time with Gavin, a guy she has a romantic interest in. The festival's extreme atmosphere hides the fact the group is being stalked by a mask-wearing serial killer. Who's in it? The movie stars Amy Forsyth , Reign Edwards , Roby Attal , Matt Mecurio and Stephen Conroy. Review: I wasn't completely convinced I hadn't already seen this film, mostly because it sounded a lot like many others my wife and I have watched. However, she was sure we hadn't seen it yet and, since I didn't see any better choices, I put it on. As it turns out, even though I was skeptical at first, this film turned out to be halfway decent. There were a couple things I liked about this movie. The first was the setting. I didn't think the theme park itself added a whole lot in terms of movie scares but it di...

Movie Review: We Summon the Darkness (2019)

Synopsis: When three friends are invited to spend the evening with three women they met at a 1980s heavy metal concert, they can't believe they are so lucky. But, they quickly change their mind when they learn the women intend to murder them as part of a fake satanic ritual. Who's in it? The movie stars Alexandra Daddario , Keean Johnson , Maddie Hasson , Amy Forsyth and Logan Miller . Review: I decided to pick out this movie last night because it had been a while since we had watched a horror flick and it sounded like it would be an OK choice. After seeing it, however, I honestly was kind of disappointed. I think the big problem with this film is it is very predictable. Even before the movie reveals the women's intentions, it was pretty obvious what they were attempting to do. And, even the little twists that were supposed to create some suspense, such as having the police show up unexpectedly, didn't change the predictability all that much. It also didn't help ...
