Movie Review: Sudden Fear (1952)

Image
Synopsis: Myra Hudson was born wealthy but is making her own fortune as a successful playwright. While traveling by train from New York to her home in San Francisco, she bumps into Lester Blaine, an actor she fired from her latest play because he didn't look right for the part. They bond on the long journey and, soon after arriving in San Francisco, marry. She believes he loves her until her dictating machine inadvertently records Lester and his secret girlfriend, Irene, plotting to kill her. Who's in it? The movie stars Joan Crawford , Jack Palance , Gloria Grahame , Bruce Bennett and Virginia Huston. Review: I had started out watching a different movie this morning but after discovering that one was in a different language and it was too early to read subtitles, I ended up watching Sudden Fear instead. Overall, I have to say it was a good second choice. The movie's story is well-written. I especially liked how the film took the time to show Myra (Crawford) and Lester...

Movie Review: Voodoo Woman (1957)

Image
Synopsis: Deep in the jungle, a scientist experiments with a combination of biochemicals and voodoo in an effort to create a superhuman being that will mother a perfect, unkillable, race that he will control. When a treasure-hunting group stumbles upon the village, the scientist thinks the group's ruthless female leader would be the perfect subject for his experiment. Who's in it? The movie stars Marla English , Tom Conway , Mike Connors , Lance Fuller and Mary Ellen Kay. Review: Whenever I have heard someone talking about this movie, it is usually in reference to it being "the worst movie ever made." I was intrigued by this so, when I had an opportunity to finally watch it, I gave it a try. The description of it being the worst movie ever is far from accurate, I have definitely seen worse. However, I will admit, it was pretty bad. To tell you the truth, the overall concept actually isn't a terrible one. In fact, it's actually kind of hard to go wrong with...

Movie Review: Shake, Rattle and Rock (1956)

Image
Synopsis: Disc jockey Garry Nelson has successfully used rock music to reduce juvenile delinquency in his town. Despite this, his television show is at risk of being canceled because of a militant group of concerned citizens that object to the songs he plays. His only hope is to defend rock and roll in a publically-broadcasted trial. Who's in it? The movie stars Mike Connors , Sterling Holloway , Lisa Gaye , Margaret Dumont and Fats Domino. Review: I decided to change things up yesterday morning and, instead of selecting a murder mystery, looked for something a bit different. This film sounded interesting and I wound up watching it. To be honest, I wasn't really expecting much from this movie. From the description, it sounded like it was a film that would mostly showcase some of the stars from the time period. And, I wasn't completely wrong, a good chunk of this movie featured performers like Fats Domino and Big Joe Turner. The overall movie, however, turned out to be bett...
