Movie Review: Screamboat (2025)

Image
Synopsis: The Staten Island Ferry has been part of New York since the 19th century. A forgotten part of its history is Captain Steamboat Willie, a human-like mouse killed in a shipwreck and now believed to be an urban legend. However, when a sealed hatch onboard the ferry is opened, freeing Willie, he is quick to reveal he is real by taking control of the ship and starting a murderous rampage. Who's in it? The movie stars David Howard Thornton , Tyler Posey , Sarah Kopkin, Jesse Kove and Amy Schumacher . Review: When I came across Screamboat a few days ago, I had some serious doubts about yet another horror movie based on a beloved cartoon character, especially since the last Steamboat Willie-based movie I saw, The Mouse Trap , wasn't one of my favorites. However, the trailer piqued my interest so we gave it a try. It ended up being surprisingly good. I'm not going to tell you this movie is terrifying because it isn't. In fact, I would describe it as being just as g...

Synopsis: Nearly five years after Art the Clown was beheaded by Sienna Shaw, the clown and his new sidekick, Victoria Heyes (possessed by the Little Pale Girl) begin killing again while in search of Sienna and her brother to get their final revenge. Sienna, recently released from a mental hospital, senses her family is in danger but nobody believes her, including her brother and fellow Art the Clown survivor, Jonathan. Who's in it? The movie stars Lauren LaVera , David Howard Thornton , Antonella Rose , Elliott Fullam and  Samantha Scaffidi . Review: My wife and I once again decided not to go out on Saturday night and instead stayed home to watch a movie. I came across Terrifier 3 on Screambox and decided to do the 7-day free trial to watch it. As it turns out, I probably would have been better off picking a different movie. There are two types of gore when it comes to horror movies. There's gore that is designed to add a bit of a shock factor and make a scene more realisti...

Movie Review: The Mean One (2022)

Synopsis: As a child, Cindy witnessed a green creature in a Santa suit kill her mother, but nobody believed her. Twenty years later, she returns to her childhood home with her father to face her past while celebrating Christmas only to have her father killed by the same creature. Once again told she is imagining things, with the town drunk being the only person who believes her, Cindy decides to take matters into her own hands. Who's in it? The movie stars Krystle Martin , David Howard Thornton , Amy Schumacher , John Bigham , Chase Mullins and Erik Baker . Review: When I came across The Mean One on Starz, I had some serious doubts about a movie that was clearly a parody of the childhood classic How the Grinch Stole Christmas . However, I figured it might be stupid enough to at least give my wife and me a few laughs, so I ended up watching it tonight. It turned out to be surprisingly good. I think the thing I liked most about this movie was the mystery surrounding the Mean One ...

Movie Review: Terrifier (2017)

Synopsis: It's Halloween night and Art the Clown, armed with a bag of weapons, is ready to start a killing spree. When he encounters two young women on their way home from a Halloween party, he decides to terrorize them while killing anyone else who happens to get in his way. Who's in it? The movie stars Jenna Kanell , Samantha Scaffidi , David Howard Thornton , Catherine Corcoran and Pooya Mohseni . Review: I haven't had much success picking out horror movies lately and, as a result of that, I was a bit hesitant to watch this one last night. But, since you really can't go wrong with a killer clown movie, I figured I would give this film a shot. And, as it turns out, it was better than expected. Art the Clown (Thornton) was pretty much everything you could ask for in a horror movie clown. He was creepy looking, had a definite violent streak and was surprisingly unpredictable. As a result of that, along with his way he always remained silent, he managed to m...
