Image
Synopsis: Television executive Frank Cross earned his position as president of IBC by being ambitious and ruthless. Now, two days before Christmas, he is set to make television history with a live, star-studded version of A Christmas Carol . However, his plans are soon disrupted when his deceased mentor visits him and concerned for Cross' future, arranges for the executive to meet three ghosts, putting Cross in danger of losing his job as he re-learns the spirit of Christmas. Who's in it?  The movie stars Bill Murray , Karen Allen , John Forsythe, Carol Kane and Bobcat Goldthwait. Review: I had some down time yesterday afternoon after running a bunch of errands yesterday morning and came across Scrooged on one of my movie sites. It had been a few years since I last watched the movie in its entirety, so I picked it. I wasn't disappointed with the decision. Without doing any real research, my guess is there are dozens of re-tellings of A Christmas Carol, including multiple...

Synopsis: Three years after saving the world in Summerville, Oklahoma, Callie Spengler, her two children, Trevor and Phoebe, and her boyfriend, Gary, have relocated to New York City resurrected the Ghostbusting business her father helped found in the 1980s, much to the chagrin of NYC mayor and long-time Ghostbuster antagonist Walter Peck. They soon find themselves once again needing to save the world when an ancient artifact containing an ancient god looking to wipe out the human race by freezing them to death is accidentally opened. Who's in it? The movie stars Paul Rudd , McKenna Grace , Carrie Coon , Finn Wolfhard , Dan Aykroyd , Annie Potts , Bill Murray and Ernie Hudson . Review: I had some serious doubts when Hollywood decided to reboot the Ghostbuster franchise in 2021 but I enjoyed Ghostbusters: Afterlife more than expected and was excited to see Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire as a result. I didn't get an opportunity to see it at the theater as I had hoped but did wa...

Movie Review: Wild Things (1998)

Image
Synopsis: Sam Lombardo is a popular high school guidance counselor living in an upscale neighborhood in Florida. A bachelor and a lady's man, he is living the good life. However, things soon change when one of his students, Kelly Van Ryan, accuses him of rape and another student, Suzie Toller, makes a similar claim against him. Fortunately for him, attorney Ken Bowden isn't afraid to defend him. Who's in it? The movie stars  Matt Dillon , Kevin Bacon , Neve Campbell , Denise Richards and  Bill Murray. Review: I needed a break after mowing the lawn and it was about to rain again anyway. So, my wife and I looked for a movie to watch and eventually settled on Wild Things . It was a film I had never seen, and she hadn't watched in a long time. It ended up being a good choice. I think the thing I liked best about this movie was the way it strategically kept certain things off screen. For example, it was unclear what happened between Lombardo (Dillon) and Van Ryan (Richar...

Movie Review: The Dead Don't Die (2019)

Image
Synopsis:  Something isn't quite right in the small town of Centerville. The sun is setting much later than it normally does, domestic pets and livestock are acting strangely and, most importantly, the dead are rising from their graves. Who's in it? The movie stars Bill Murray , Adam Driver , Selena Gomez , Tom Waits and Steve Buscemi. Review:  I don't remember putting this particular movie in my Netflix DVD queue and, as a result, was a bit surprised to see it arrive a few weeks ago. Since it was a longer film, it took my wife and I some time to watch it. We finally did that last night and it turned out to be better than expected. I think the thing I liked best about this movie was the various residents in Centerville. This includes a police officer (Driver) who seems to realize they are in a movie, a funeral home director ( Maya Delmont ) who is both strange and a sword expert, a racist farmer (Buscemi) and a hermit (Waits) who serves as a narrator. It was fun watching t...
