Image
Synopsis: Myra Hudson was born wealthy but is making her own fortune as a successful playwright. While traveling by train from New York to her home in San Francisco, she bumps into Lester Blaine, an actor she fired from her latest play because he didn't look right for the part. They bond on the long journey and, soon after arriving in San Francisco, marry. She believes he loves her until her dictating machine inadvertently records Lester and his secret girlfriend, Irene, plotting to kill her. Who's in it? The movie stars Joan Crawford , Jack Palance , Gloria Grahame , Bruce Bennett and Virginia Huston. Review: I had started out watching a different movie this morning but after discovering that one was in a different language and it was too early to read subtitles, I ended up watching Sudden Fear instead. Overall, I have to say it was a good second choice. The movie's story is well-written. I especially liked how the film took the time to show Myra (Crawford) and Lester...

Movie Review: Trog (1970)

Synopsis: A group of college students discover a living troglodyte living in a newly discovered cave in Britain and are immediately attacked, leaving one dead. Anthropologist Dr. Brockton manages to capture the missing link and brings it back to her lab for study. However, her research is met with opposition from many of the townspeople, who view the creature as a monster. Any progress Brockton made toward dispelling that opinion is then lost when a local businessman releases Trog in the hopes it will be killed, only to have the creature go on its own killing spree before abducting a child. Who's in it? The movie stars Joan Crawford , Michael Gough, Bernard Kay, Joe Cornelius and Kim Braden. Review: My search for a monster movie resulted in me considering Trog multiple times, only to decide to watch a movie from a different genre instead. I finally decided to give it a try this morning and it turned out to pretty much confirm the doubts I had about it. To be fair, this movie wa...

Synopsis: Alice "Bingo" Dowling has been raised in the South American jungle by her oil tycoon father and is free spirited as a result. When her father is murdered by one of his workers, she becomes his sole heir and travels back to New York with her "uncles," Ben and Howard. While on the ship back to the United States, she meets Andy McAllister and falls in love. However, Bingo's inexperience with men leads Ben and Howard to believe Andy is only after her money. Who's in it? The movie stars Joan Crawford , Robert Montgomery , Ernest Torrence , Holmes Herbert and Gwen Lee . Review: I picked Untamed for this morning's movie because the description made it sound a bit like Tarzan, but with a female lead. As it turns out, that description of the movie wasn't even remotely accurate and I ultimately had a mixed opinion about the film. As far as the plot goes, I thought it was OK. You have a woman, Bingo (Crawford), who is a bit unrefined because of h...
