Lunchables Crispy Grilled Cheesies Review
My wife is working on a sewing project, and my oldest daughter needed the stove to make something for a work potluck. So, I decided to just stop at the store and pick up some frozen dinners for everyone. This included box of Lunchables Crispy Grilled Cheesies for my youngest (teenage) daughter.
At $5.69, this was at a price that made me temporarily debate this purchase. I could, after all, make a grilled cheese at home for a fraction of the cost. However, I was intrigued by the advertised convenience of making one in the microwave, so I decided to buy it. Overall, it ended up being a pleasant surprise.
I had some serious doubts about this product living up to the "crispy" claim. In fact, I can't think of the last time I've made something in the microwave that turned out crispy. As it turned out though, this ended up being as advertised. My daughter popped it into the microwave for 60 seconds and it came out the same way it would have come out had I made it on the stove.
Taste-wise, she said it wasn't anything special. It wasn't bad. It just didn't taste any different than any other grilled cheese sandwich. I will, however, consider that a positive as well because it wasn't any worse than a homemade one, according to her assessment.
Final Opinion: It's still a bit pricey for my taste and at minimum, if I'm spending nearly $6, I would prefer to see more than two sandwiches in the box. However, the convenience of making it in the microwave (not dirtying any dishes) without any difference in quality does win it some points. If I were to find it on sale, I'd purchase it again.
My Grade: B
