Still One More Week Until Payday (A Poem)

Image
There's still one more week until payday And my funds are already running low. I hate to sound cliche But where did my money go? The mortgage company, the electric company and the rest Are draining my bank account dry. I swear, if I get one more bill in the mail, I'm going to break down and cry. Like mosquitoes, they keep poking at me Trying to make me bleed. Don't these people realize I have a family of four and two cats to feed? Image courtesy of Pixabay My savings account? That's empty. That money has already been spent. My tax return? Don't make me laugh. Let's just say the government found a way to keep each and every cent. The cavalry isn't coming. They must have gotten lost. I could ask for a pay raise. But, I've already gone down THAT road with my boss. So I guess the only thing that's left to do. Is stretch my budget and suck it up when it comes to my money woes. And be grateful There'...

Speaking of Baby Rabbits

Image
I found a nest outside my office this morning. Don't worry, I was very careful not to disturb it (though I may have to put a flag up by it to keep the lawnmower away). But, I did get a photo quick.

One Good Deed Done For Today

Image
My parents found a 4-day-old rabbit in their back yard a couple days ago. At first, they figured the mother was still around. However, their neighbor found the nest and discovered all of its brothers/sisters were dead. So, assuming the mother either abandoned them or was killed, they took it in. Of course, none of us knows how to take care of a rabbit that young and knew, even though we could get it to eat formula, it probably wasn't going to survive. So, my wife called up the Wildlife in Need Center in Oconomowoc and we drove it down there. Image courtesy of Cynthia Helmer It was 100 miles round trip and there's still no guarantee the little guy (or girl) will survive. But, I think it was worth it because at least now it'll have a fighting chance.

I actually went out for a walk earlier this morning but didn't find a whole lot to take photos of. Fortunately, my lunch walk a few hours later was a little more productive. Here are some of the photos I was able to take:

Movie Review: The Gift (2015)

Even though Simon has no interest in reconnecting with his former classmate, Gordo has other ideas and continually stops by the house when Simon isn't home and leaving gifts for the couple. Simon wants to put an end to it. However, Robyn doesn't think Gordo is a threat and begins to suspect there is something from her husband's past he isn't telling her. Who's in it? The movie stars Jason Bateman , Rebecca Hall , Joel Edgerton , Allison Tolman and Tim Griffin. Review: I really should have mowed my lawn yesterday. But, I just couldn't get up the energy to do that so, after running a couple other errands, my wife and I wound up watching an afternoon movie. We originally started watching Meet the Blacks , but quickly discovered neither of us was enjoying it and started searching for something else. After going through doze...

Movie Review: Ghost House (2017)

Image
Synopsis: While visiting Thailand with her fiance, Jim, a young American woman, Julie, becomes obsessed with the country's Ghost Houses, small houses designed to attract spirits so they don't feel the need to haunt a real house. When she is tricked into disrespecting one of the houses, she is haunted by the angry spirit of a jilted woman who died in a fire and seeks to steal the souls of young women. Who's in it? The movie stars Scout Taylor-Compton , James Landry Hebert , Mark Boone Junior , Michael S. New , Russell Geoffrey Banks and Rich Lee Gray . Review: This was a movie I was undecided about when I first came across it on Netflix. The preview looked somewhat interesting. But, the film also seemed somewhat similar to other movies we've seen before and, because of that, I had doubts about it being anything special. However, I couldn't find much else that caught my eye so we ended up watching it. As it turns out, it was a better film than I was expec...

I wasn't sure if we were going to be able to do this because there was rain in the forecast. But, it was nice enough out for us to continue our annual tradition and make a trip to the MacKenzie Environmental Center in Poynette. Here are some of the photos I was able to take:
