Inauguration Day: A (Fictional?) Short Story
To Lt. Jensen:
I am submitting to you my final albeit abbreviated report, which is being written both under urgency and duress. Our undercover fact-finding mission has been successful but has come at a cost. Wilson is dead and with my cover blown, my status will likely be the same by the time you receive this.
Please keep me in your prayers as you read the summary of my findings below:
Inauguration Day is, as expected, the execution date. The AI presidential replicas remain out of the picture until after the election and swearing in ceremony. The man standing on stage with his hand on the Bible is, in fact, human, but is replaced by his replica soon after.
The President is unaware of this up until the moment they inject him with a quick and powerful sedative and make the exchange behind closed doors. From that point forward until the next president is elected, the replica handles all presidential functions and decisions.
After Inauguration Day, the president is kept in a bunker below the White House. Those who are cooperative are treated well and given any resources they ask for to make their stay in captivity comfortable. Those who are uncooperative are given the option to be placed into a medically induced coma, though this does not seem to be a method that has ever been used and may just be a way to force compliance through fear.
The president eventually has his memories manipulated so he believes he was the one in the oval office and returns to his normal life after his term is over.
Our theory about the Oligarchy being behind this is correct. I compiled a separate and more detailed report with the names of the wealthy and powerful people I could confirm as well as a reasonable guess at a hierarchy. This has already been delivered to our pre-determined dropoff spot.
They see the AI replicas as a more efficient way to control the presidency as well as some key foreign governments than simply bribing them. Humans can have a change of heart brought on by a sense of morality or mortality. The replicas only do what their algorithms tell them to do and can be adjusted as needed.
The Oligarchy has no party affiliation and uses both the Democrats and Republicans equally to keep the country divided so they can carry out their agenda. They have also made successful use of red herrings and misdirection. Many of our obvious suspects turned out to just be puppets with someone else pulling their strings.
This may have been going on much longer than we thought. My evidence is inconclusive but suggests a connection to the 1947 incident in Roswell, NM and technology from that crash being adapted for human use. While I can only confirm the use of this technology for recent presidents, it is very likely this conspiracy has spanned decades.
The recent AI boom is about subterfuge. The Oligarchy has been quietly feeding a flawed version of the AI technology to private companies and making sure errors are publicly exposed. The goal is to create public disbelief in case their plan is exposed. Nobody can believe an AI-powered robot is serving as their president if they can’t even use AI to produce a photograph that doesn’t have too many fingers.
The technology is not perfect. It is far more advanced than we’ve been able to create on our own but that is a hindrance as much as it is positive because of compatibility issues with human-made machinery. This is why the Oligarchy manipulates elections in the favor of older presidents. Any glitches, such as discoloration of the artificial skin or struggling to give a comprehensible answer to a simple question can be dismissed as a product of advanced age.
The first lady is a key ally. I have found nothing suggesting any vice president or members of Congress knowing about this plot. However, I was able to verify every confirmed replica had a human first lady who was aware of the switch. There is even evidence suggesting the first ladies knew about the plan prior to election day and agreed to it in advance, either to ensure their husband’s safety or because of their own political motivations and a loveless marriage.
This is a vital element to the Oligarchy’s plan because the first lady is often in close enough proximity to cover for the replica if it glitches in public or alert the Oligarchy if she spots a physical difference or personality change the public might notice.
I suspect one of the reasons why recent failed attempts to elect a female president have been at least partially the result of this. The Oligarchy may not trust a first gentleman to be as efficient in this supporting role and may even fear a dangerous level of inadequacy.
It is likely already too late. The Oligarchy, in no small part because of this plot, has grown to a level of power and influence never seen before and has created just enough divisiveness both domestically and abroad to ward off any attempts to challenge them. In short, I have found the evidence we were looking for, but it is meaningless because the Oligarchy controls the people we would need to take it to.
We aren’t facing the threat of a new world order; we’re already living in it.
