Lunchtime Walk Photos (8/7/2026)

I wasn't sure what the weather was going to be like today. It was foggy when I left, dreary later in the morning and, for a time, looked like it might rain. 

The sun did come out though, so I ended up going for a walk at lunch. Here are some of the photos.


It took me a few tries to get the green heron above. The sun was reflecting off the algae/water and kept washing everything out. Fortunately, it was too busy hunting to care I was there.


I saw the egret from the far side of one of the ponds and spent a good portion of my walk trying to get close enough for a photo without scaring it. I didn't even realize there was a blue heron standing near it until I was taking the photo.



I got this one while it was taking a drink from the creek.


Not really sure what kind of berries these are. Just liked the pop of color coming up from the green over the water.

Professor Proton - The Big Bang Theory Spinoff that Should Have Happened

After being off the air for seven years, The Big Bang Theory will be getting a spin-off series that isn't a prequel and will be centered around characters from the original series, albeit not the main cast members. I haven't decided if I am going to watch Stuart Fails to Save the Universe because, not unlike TBBT's Sheldon Cooper ( Jim Parsons ), I do have to consider if it will be worth the time commitment. Plus, while the plot does sound intriguing, I'm not convinced it wouldn't have been better as a movie rather than a television series. One thing the new show does do for me, however, is remind me of the missed opportunity for another TBBT spinoff that probably wasn't even considered but, if done correctly, could have been a success, at least in my opinion. The spin-off series I am referring to is Professor Proton, starring Wil Wheaton . Kwik Trip Kitchen Cravings Tailgater Pizza

  When my wife and I decided on pizza for dinner last night, I stopped at Kwik Trip with the intention of just buying a cheap, frozen, cheese pizza for our daughters since we already had another pizza in our freezer. However, as I was walking up to the checkout counter, this particular pizza caught my eye and, even though I wasn't crazy about spending $8.99 when I already had another option at home, I was intrigued enough to make the purchase anyway. We ended up making the pizza in the oven when I got home. After trying it, I have to say it is one of my favorites. One of the things, in particular, that really stood out for me when it came to this pizza was the toppings. The combination of sausage and cheese curds was both unique and delicious, especially since the curds were fresh enough to still squeak when we were eating them.
