Rinse and Repeat (A Poem)

 A single assassin's bullet

And many are calling it America's darkest day.

I disagree.

"Just a typical day in the United States" is what I would say.

Where is this anger and outrage

When young and innocent victims are left dead?

Instead of protecting human lives

We protect the Second Amendment instead.

Oh, sure, we'll talk about it.

We'll debate until we're blue in the face.

In the end, however,

We'll just wind up in the same place.

We'll praise the victims.

We'll condemn the killer on every corner of every street.

We'll hope. We'll pray.

And then we'll rinse and repeat.
