Thoughts From the Green Bay Packers Versus the Arizona Cardinals (10/13/2024)
My thoughts from today's Green Bay Packers' 34-13 win over the Arizona Cardinals.
Jordan Love seems to be finding his rhythm. He wasn't 100 percent when the Packers played the Minnesota Vikings and there was still some rust last week, I think. Today, a healthy Love did his damage both with his arm and his legs. The only black mark was the interception, which only happened because Bo Melton slipped while the ball was in the air. He also found a total of nine receivers.
Xavier McKinney didn't end up with his sixth 2024 interception, but the defense continued to take the ball away. So far, Jeff Hafley seems to be a great addition at defensive coordinator. If the edge rushers can start getting more pressure on the quarterbacks, it could be the best defense the team has had in a long time.
It was great seeing Romeo Doubs have an impact. Green Bay handled last week's drama as best as it could and both parties seem willing to move forward. That second touchdown catch, thrown while Love was under duress, was a great example of what he brings to the team.
Another player that continues to impress is Tucker Kraft. Luke Musgrave got most of the fanfare when both tight ends were drafted last season, but Kraft is the one who has emerged as a consistent weapon and a player that can do just about anything asked of him. I absolutely loved the trick play that made him the quarterback right before a sneak.
Why is Jayden Reed returning punts? I might have asked this question before but it's still something that doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me. In addition to Keisan Nixon being an amazing returner (as proven with his 19.5 average after he came in in relief of Reed), why put a guy who is arguably your number one receiver in that role?
I'm undecided about what the Packers should do about Brayden Narveson. Another miss puts the rookie at only 71 percent field goal accuracy this season and all the misses were within 50 yards. It was telling when Green Bay opted to go for it on fourth down rather than try for a field goal early in the game as well. However, I'm not sure there are any replacements that are available and an upgrade so it might just be a matter of patience and coaching while hoping he doesn't cost them too many games.
