My Thoughts - Young Sheldon: A Tougher Nut and a Note on File (11/10/2022)

Synopsis: Georgie (Montana Jordan) meets Mandy's (Emily Osment) parents (Will Sasso and Rachel Bay Jones). While searching for a comic book, Sheldon (Iain Armitage) comes up with a way to use the internet to make it easier.

My Thoughts:

Do Missy's (Raegan Revord) parents know she has a job?  I am going to assume they do, but the show never really confirmed that. Allowing her to have the job also seems a little out of character for at least Mary (Zoe Perry) considering Missy had to lie about her age to get it and is sometimes working until after dark.

OK, I'll admit the whole comic book database thing proved to be funnier than expected. I still have a hard time believing Sheldon was the first person to come up with that idea, but it didn't matter because it was kind of fun seeing him get distracted and, instead, trying to re-organize the store with Missy getting annoyed about having to help him, as usual.

I would have asked about child labor laws when Missy was told to stay late. However, as someone who had a job in the 1990s (as a high schooler), I'm perfectly aware of how lax they were back then, especially after working until midnight on school nights.

Everyone thinks Mandy's mom reminds them of Mandy, but I disagree. I actually think Audrey and Jim are a little too similar to Mary and George (Lance Barber) when they first found out. Mary was just as stubborn as Audrey and Jim, much like George, is kind of stuck in the middle.

For the record, I think Mandy is right about deserving an apology. She, unlike Georgie, isn't a teenager. She's a grown woman capable of making her own decisions and mistakes. Her mom taking the step of disowning her just seems like a little much and I just don't see why everyone feels like Mandy is the one who needs to apologize when she and her pregnancy haven't hurt anyone.

The episode did make me wonder if Georgie will eventually inherit her dad's tire shop or if he will start his own to prove a point. I actually kind of hope it's the latter if the whole disowning thing continues.

Final Opinion: To be honest, it wasn't my favorite episode this season. There were some funny moments, but nothing particularly memorable even though it is setting up some possible storylines.

My Grade: C+
