Review of Lamb Weston Crispy Potato Puffs

I decided to make sloppy Joes for dinner a couple nights ago and, needing something to go with them, stopped in the freezer section while I was at one of our local grocery stores. I ended up picking up this product both because everyone in the family likes potato puffs and because this brand happened to be on sale.

It was my first time trying the Lamb Weston brand and, because of that, I wasn't really sure what to expect from it. However, after trying it, I do have to say it is one of the better frozen brands we've purchased.

One thing I found I liked about this product after making the potato puffs was the way the puffs got crispy in our toaster oven. This is not the case with most brands, including those that promise to be crunchy and, to be honest, because of the lower price, I was pretty surprised when these came out of the oven crisp. But, these were exactly how I wanted them to be, somewhat crunchy without being dried out and hard.

I also thought the puffs had a good flavor to them. This, again, isn't always the case with frozen potato products, especially cheaper brands. But, the puffs were properly seasoned and complemented the rest of our dinner nicely.

I'm apparently not the only one in my family that felt this way. I ended up making the whole bag, thinking I would have at least half of it as leftovers. By the time we were done with dinner, all but maybe a half dozen of them had been eaten. Even our youngest daughter, who I would normally expect to only eat a few of these, had seconds.

As a result of that, I do think this is a product I will buy again, especially if I see it on sale again.

My Grade: A
